Ampiura is a project inspired by my Latin American roots.
Born to a Panamanian father and a Peruvian mother, I grew up surrounded by the best quality materials in the world, and I do mean, the best. And all completely natural. From a young age I was exposed not only to Peruvian Pima cotton, alpaca wool, Panamanian clay accents, but due to our cultural similarities, I had the pleasure to experience many different materials present in Latin American culture.
My love for interior decor started when remodeling our first home with my husband. We were married on January 2020 and soon after we were locked up together 24/7. The lockdown made us realize the importance of loving the space we live in. A few months later we were ready to move into a home of our own and wound up having to remodel. Originally, we were only going to redo the floors, but then the madness began. After scrolling hours on end on Pinterest, I fell in love with a hunter green kitchen, then went down a spiral looking at floor tile samples, grayish oak wood doors, wall paneling, light fixtures, and so on... After almost six months of work, we finally moved into our newly remodeled home.
Little by little I began getting home accents and decor to give the house a warmer touch, starting with our couch. I was so desperate to get decorative pillows I bought the first thing I stumbled upon, and boy did I regret it. Then, I found the most beautiful decorative pillows, handwoven by Peruvian artisans out of alpaca wool. Soon enough I filled our house with beautiful accents and decor handmade of the best natural materials, and it finally started to feel like home.
And so, it has become my mission to put these home accents and natural materials on the map for the world to know and experience. They truly are a work of art of their own. Whether hand woven or hand sculpted, I cannot wait for them to be a part of your home.
